Frozen February

We started our Spring semester of Co-op.  The girls are enrolled in some really great classes this semester.  Hannah is taking Myths & Legends, Life Science, Drama, and Nez Perce, through the Eyes of Kaya.  Avery is in the same classes except she is taking Animals around the World, instead of Life Science.

I am teaching the Nez Perce class and Drama this semster.  We are going to be performing the play, Snow White in May.  It should be a lot of fun.

These are pictures from our Valentine's Day Party

Hannah at Show and Tell

Avery right after she finished show and tell.  I only posted
this picture because I was so proud of her.  She was so nervous,
I didn't think she would participate.  She pushed herself and did it.
She was so quick, that I couldn't get her picture in time.

Hannah and Avery made these homeade chocolates for
Kevin and Me.  It was a Valentine's surprise.

These are the quilts that I made the girls for Valentine's Day.  They took a few months
to make, but were ready just in time.

We've been working hard in table time.  Avery finished her Kindergarten Math book
and started on First Grade already.  We are still working on reading, making progress all the time.
Hannah is working hard in her math book.  She's only do thrird grade math and I find myself having to review topics in order to remember them.  It's one thing to know how to do something, but sometimes trying to explain certain topics isn't so easy.  Hannah and Avery aren't the only ones getting an education, I feel like I am too.

Hannah and Avery have also been doing a lot of baking.  Hannah is at the point where she can read the recipe, gather the ingredients and measure everything herself.  They also each completed a sewing project.  They both made tote bags with minimal help.

The girls have been spending a lot of time outside in the snow.

Snow, Snow, and More Snow

We've been hard at work now that the new semester started.  Avery is reading more and more.  Hannah is finally caught up in her math book and is starting to learn about unknown equations.  I'm re-learning about them because I had blocked all that out.  Although, when I was in school we didn't start learning that stuff until 7th or 8th grade.  Hannah is in third grade.

We've barely left the house this month except for gymanstics or trips to the library.  It has been so cold and miserable out.  The kids are enjoying all of the snow.  They've been spending lots and lots of time outside.

After all that playing outside, they still had to bring snow in to play with.  The rabbit
loved eating it and the girls loved having a "Frozen" tea party.

All this snow and we are expecting another foot on Monday......

Seasons Greetings....

Our first semester is finally over.  The girls definitely accomplished a lot since September.  We are already 3/4 of the way through our 3-4th grade and Kindergarten-1st grade curriculum.  The January semester will be more relaxed.  We will be concentrating on Reading/Language Arts and Math.  We do have a couple of historic figures to learn about and we have to cover Weather in Science, but i'm hoping to turn those subjects into short unit studies.  We also finished co-op.  We ended it with a Christmas Party/Science Fair and we performed our play.  It was a lot of fun for all involved.

The kids all did a great job on the play.  They worked hard to learn their lines, make props and help with the set design.  Most importantly they worked as a team.  It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience.  Jen and I (the co-teachers) also learned alot and we look forward to our next play.  Coming spring of 2015 we will be putting on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.  I'm finishing up the script now.  This time all of the children will have to audition.

The Christmas Party
The children all make homeade ornaments and did
a swap.  It's a lot of fun for all.

Last night we went to Old Sturbridge Village to enjoy their Christmas by Candlelight Celebration.
It was beautiful.  A quaint New England Christmas. The village was lit up by candles and Christmas lights.  There were horse drawn wagons and caroling.  The girls made an old fashion tin ornament and small pot-pourrie saches.  We all tried ginger, hot apple cider and warm gingerbread made over the fire in an old fashioned bakestove.  Hannah even tried plum pudding.  The best part was, that we were able to enjoy it with close friends.  We ended the night by visiting with Santa Claus.  If you've never been to OSV at Christmas time, I truly recommend it!

Avery went back and forth with her decision to
sit on Santa.  She enjoyed it once she did.  He was
truly the best Santa ever!!!  He spent at least 10 minutes
with just our children.

I love this picture!!!  He was talking to them about their
