Review Week

This was our second week of table-time and our review week.  We reviewed a lot of what we learned last year.  I divided the review up into days.  We did one subject each day.  Hannah did really well with every subject.  There were a few things that we had to spend a little extra time on but most days we were still done before 12:00.  Avery even participated in a lot of the review.  Last year she used to color, do workbooks, play or watch educational videos while we did table time.  Even though she didn't sit with us and actively participate, she would still listen.  It's amazing how much she picked up from just doing that.  I couldn't believe how much she knew when I was questioning Hannah.

On Monday we did our Math review and then we went to our first Art/Handwork Co-op at the Peace Trust.  The girls did wet on wet painting with water colors.  Then we went on a nature walk in the woods.

On Tuesday we did our Geography review.  We read a really good book called Me on the Map by Joan Sweeney.  It is narrated by a child and it shows a child's view of the world.  It starts off with a map of the child's room, house, street, town, state, and then country.  As each map gets broader it shows less detail.  After we read the book and discussed it, we went outside and made our own maps of our street.  It was a lot of fun.  Both girls did a great job.

On Wednesday we did our Science review.  Hannah's least favorite.  She did well though.  There were a few terms that she had forgotten but we will keep reviewing them.  We concluded the review by going outside to play an animal classification game.

As a reward for doing a great job, we decided to bake Brownie Pizza.  The girls did all the measuring and decorating.  After the pizza was done we divided it up into fractions before eating it.  (Even a reward can become a learning experience)

On Thursday we did English.  It was short and sweet.  Then we headed off to Webster for Kids Group.  It was a really nice day and the kids enjoyed being outdoors.  We ended the day with Gymnastics.  It was a busy week.

These are pictures of the girls catching Tadpoles.  They caught 7 of them and relocated them to Mimi's pond.
