Our Month of May......

The month of May has been so much fun.  We've done so many wonderful things and celebrated two happy occasions, Kevin's birthday and Mother's Day.  The weather is finally warm and our garden is finally planted.  We planted our usual: 3 varieties of tomatoes, green bell peppers, jalapenos, carrots, and our herbs.  We also planted summer squash, garlic and watermelon this year for the first time.  The only thing left to plant is our pumpkins.  Our local garden store did not have any yet and the seeds that Avery and I planted did not grow.

Inside Activities:

Hannah and Avery building pyramids.

 A springtime tea party....

Outside Activities:  Science Experiment
How sunblock works.  We applied sunblock to black construction paper and left the paper out in the sun all day.  The area with sunblock stayed black and the rest of the paper was bleached from the sun.  I was hoping this experiment would make the girls like sun block a little more.  They hate when I put it on them.

These are pictures of the girls making stepping stones for Mimi for her Mother's Day present.

The girls love this project.  It was a lot of fun and messy too.  The finished stepping stones came out really nice.

These are pictures from Kevin's Birthday dinner.

We celebrated Kevin's birthday by going to Mystic Seaport with Mimi and Pop-Pop.
We had a great day.  Beautiful weather and lots of fun!!!

A special note about this "Mehitabel" picture.  We have read all of the Hitty books.  They are living books based on a doll and all of her adventures as she is passed from owner to owner.  Each book is written around a historical event and they are so interesting.    They cover topics from the early New England Seaport days, The Gold Rush, The Revolutionary War, Immigrants, The Civil War and Slavery,  and Women's Voting Rights.  I recommend them for any child.  Is there a better way to teach history?  I love living books.

Our day at Lake Chaubunagungamaug in Webster MA.  Better known to most as Webster Lake.

Hannah took this picture of Avery and Me at the Hyde.  We went to our first opera.  Cinderella.

The girls Monkeying around at a local playground.

We went to a family cook out in RI.  They spent the day on the moon-bounce.

May was so much fun and it's not over yet.  I hope the rest of Spring will be just as fun!!!

Keeping Busy

Hannah had a puppet show for us.

Our seedlings are growing nicely.

We can't wait to get them in the ground.  The girls and I spend a lot of time
pulling up weeds and getting rid of all the rocks.

Our Day in Narragansett Rhode Island

We had a lot of fun, but it was quite breezy at the beach.  The water was icy cold.  It
didn't stop Hannah from putting her feet in though.  We can't wait for our annual trip to
Emerald Isle North Carolina!!!  This trip to the beach was a tease.
Even though the Ocean in North Carolina is warm and beautiful, you
cant' beat the "Chowda" and clam-cakes in Rhode Island!!

Our first Ice Cream Outing of the season.  We went to Canterbury Cones.
Canterbury Cones is this cute little ice cream place hidden out in the country.
It is family owned and operated.  The people there are so friendly and the ice cream is
delicious!  The kids love it because it is so much fun.

Impossible Dreams
in Rhode Island

Impossible Dreams is an awesome playground in Rhode Island!!!
It is non-profit and free to get into.  They only ask for a donation to cover their expenses.  Impossible Dreams was designed so that all children can play and have fun, even children with disabilities.  Here is
