November, November

With the weather getting colder and colder, we find ourselves curled up on the couch reading more and more.  This year it's more special because Avery is reading with us.  She is now capable of reading some of the beginner readers and she is learning words so fast that I can't keep up.  She definitely has a strength in spelling.  She didn't get that from me, spelling was never my subject.  It's hard to believe the semester is already close to an end.  We are now finishing up the human body for science.  In January we will be learning about Weather.  Hannah is progressing with her math.  Her multiplication facts are finally sticking.  Now we are working to catch up in her math book.  We usually only do table time for the first 2 weeks in December and then start up again in January.  This year we are going to continue with math for Hannah and reading for Avery but will take a break from everything else.

Gymnastics is going really well.  Both girls love it.  Hannah will have her first meet in December.  The girls will also be attending "Kids Night Out" at the gym.  The Uconn Gymnastics team will be there to teach them.  Already the fall semester of Coop is coming to an end.  We will be putting on our play on December 5.  It is amazing how fast time goes.  Before we know it, Christmas will be over too.

These pictures capture our best memories of November:

Spooky October.....

Octobers has been filled with fun activities.  We've had mild weather and we've been able to enjoy lots of outdoor time.  We've also spent lots of time with friends this month.  Co-op and table time have been progressing nicely.  Avery loves her science class at co-op and often comes home and repeats the experiments for Hannah.  Hannah has completed a pair of mittens in Handwork and a Impressionalist painting in her focused art class.  We are all having fun in drama as we rehearse for our upcoming play.  We are just starting to make the set and costumes.
The girls are doing well with their studies.  Avery gets a perfect score on every spelling test.  Her reading is progresssing nicely also.  Hannah had been concentrating on spelling and math.  She just completed her first book report of the year.  We just finished the Respiratory System in Science and we will be finishing up Plymouth this week.  We will end our study by visiting Plymouth Plantation on Thursday.

Here are some pictures from our day at Southwick Zoo.  We went for the zoo's annual Boo Days.
