Our Autumn Activities....

Hannah with her Time Capsule before we buried it.

The secret spot where her time capsule was buried.
Hopefully we will be able to find it next year.

I just had to take a picture of our apple pie.  This
is the best crust I have ever made.

These are pictures from our annual Buttonwood Farm
Field Trip

Buttonwood Farm is so much fun!!!  It's my favorite field trip of the year.  We had
beautiful weather and delicious farm-made ice cream.  We actually did the
corn maze 3 times this year.  The best part for the girls was that Mimi came with us.

The girls and I are working on 2 Memory quilts.  One for each of them.
We are using scraps from their baby clothes, blankets and costumes to make the quilts.
We are finally done cutting squares.  That was so time consuming.  We have only
done the placing for this quilt so far.  The next step is to start sewing.

These are pictures of the masterpieces that Hannah and Avery made
at COOP in Hodge Podge Art.  I am really enjoying the classes
that I am teaching.  I am exhausted at the end of the
day though.

The kids were doing skits that they wrote.  We will be
working up to a play that we will perform for the entire COOP.
Last week they voted on The Wizard of Oz.  Now Jenn and I
have to rewrite the script and assign parts.  I think
we will have a lot of fun with this play.  The children
will not only act in the play but they will help make costumes and the set.

The Start of September

It seems as though September has rushed right by!!!  We've been having tons of fun!  While I'm sad that summer is over, I do enjoy the Fall.  The weather has been nice and we've been able to do a lot.  We had 2 Not Back To School Parties this year.  The first at Webster Lake with the Lakeview Homeschoolers and the second at Misquamicut State Beach in RI with our COOP.

Hannah has been learning to ride her bike without training wheels.  She is doing really well.  She was riding the very first day that they came off.  She does need to practice her steering a little though.  She tends to watch her feet and not look straight ahead.

We have been using nature to create masterpieces.  Here are a few of the creations.

We went to Mashmoquet to have a Science/Art day.  The girls getting river rocks.

Painting the rocks.....

More pictures from our day at Mashmoquet.

Our first day of Table Time.

We went on a family excursion to The Ecotarium in Worcester MA.

Just this morning we all went to the Apple Orchard to pick apples.  Now it's time to get cooking.  Apple pie, Apple Crisp, and Applesauce.   Yum....

As busy as we have been, we also started Table Time and Coop this week.  The girls completed a review week and did well.  I created a game called Chaos to use for our review.  It is a lot of fun.   It is a board game where you have to answer a "subject card" to move on.  I also included "chaos" cards that provide the opportunity to jump around and do silly things.  The girls really enjoyed the game so now I am going to incorporate it into our weekly table time.  I've decided to add new subject cards each week, as we learn, so that we are constantly reviewing.

We also started what I call "Teaching Thursdays".  At the end of table time on Thursday Hannah and Avery each get to teach for 20 minutes.  They can choose any subject that they want.  We all have to listen and do what the teacher says.  This first week, Avery taught us how to use a calculator.  She ended up doing a lot of addition and subtraction.  Hannah taught us how to take care of a baby.  (We had to use her dolls, she got this idea from when Santi had to bring a baby home from school last year and take care of it)

We also have a few big projects planned for the semester.  We are starting a Homeschool Scrap Book for the year and next week we will be making and burying our own time capsules.   On Wednesday, we have a field trip to Buttonwood Farm to look forward to.
